Update the operating system
Software developers regularly publish updates to fix security flaws identified in their products.
For example, Microsoft makes its updates available the second Tuesday of each month.
You should configure your computer so that your operating system updates are done automatically.
Windows XP (SP3)
- Click the Start menu
- Click Control Panel
- Click Security Center
- Click Automatic Updates
- Choose Automatic (recommended)
- Click the OK button
Windows Vista
- Click the Start menu
- Click All Programs
- Click Windows Update
- Choose Automatic Change Settings
- Choose Install updates automatically (recommended)
- Click the OK button
