How does the government protect you?
By implementing means such as:
- The clicSÉQUR identity authentication service, which allows you to use a user-specific ID to access online services of participating Québec government departments and agencies
- A privacy policy for each website, with the Québec government's portal as an illustrative example, which guarantees that users' information will kept private
- Guides, standards and good information security practices, which are based on internationally recognized standards and publications, for all the departments and agencies
- Transition plans to ensure the availability of a given essential service
- Security and privacy protection systems
- The Directive sur la sécurité de l'information gouvernementale and the Architecture gouvernementale de la sécurité de l'information numérique (AGSIN) [the government digital information security architecture], which presents a shared vision of security, to ensure that all government departments and agencies manage security consistently
- The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT)/Administration Québécoise (AQ), an internationally recognized security incident response team, which helps departments and agencies quickly handle computer security incidents and informs them of weaknesses and new threats
By defining the legal framework in which companies, agencies and Québec citizens must use the systems and personal information they handle:
- Act to establish a legal framework for information technology
- Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information
- Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector
