- A creditor informs you that it received a credit card application with your name and address, but you did not apply for one
- You receive a phone call or letter from a creditor who tells you that your application was approved or refused, but you did not apply for anything
- You receive credit card statements or other bills in your name for purchases that you did not make
- You no longer receive credit card statements or notice that not all of your mail is delivered
- A collection agency informs you that it is collecting for an overdue account in your name, but you never opened an account
