Information security is an important issue for the development of online activities and e-government services for Québec citizens, companies, and public administration.
Information security and the protection of personal information are the shared responsibility of large companies, public authorities, individuals, and SMEs in Québec.
From June 11-17, 2007, the Québec government's Ministère des Services gouvernementaux (MSG), in cooperation with the Institut de sécurité de l'information du Québec (ISIQ) and about 20 public and private partners, organized and conducted the first Quebec information and awareness campaign on information security and the protection of personal information.
The analysis of the results led to a broad consensus for the need to continue the effort. Therefore, the MSG and the ISIQ launched the "Protect Your Identity Online" campaign, which also received significant support from a group of partners made up of private and government enterprises in a variety of economic sectors. This clearly shows that all Quebeckers are concerned about information security.
The youridentity.isiq.ca website was developed within the framework of the 2008 campaign. Since its launch, its content has been regularly updated and enhanced with new information.
